Disclaimer: I do not own Mulan or Starcraft. If I did, I probably wouldn't be writing fan fiction and may have caused the movie (and game) to do a lot worse than they did.
My name is Ellie. You may have seen Disney's interpretation of how Mulan saved China or perhaps you read the historical version of the story. Both overlook her adoptive sister from the 'Mon' family. This is the true story and it starts with Mulan playing with her rice while writing notes on her arm for her upcoming meeting with the village Matchmaker. "AAAEEEIIII. I'm late. LITTLE BROTHER! LITTLE BROTHER! Oh, there you are. Want to help with my chores?" Mulan says as I trot on all fours into our bedroom.
"I've already done most of the chores. All you need to do is feed Khan and get to the Matchmaker, I'll catch up after I get dressed." I tell her as I bend the dog lure so that Little Brother won't scatter chicken feed all over the yard while chasing the bone. Mulan rushes to the stable while I slip into the Greymon hide cloak that is my only piece of clothing.
A short time later we arrive at the village square with Khan leaping over a pile-up that seems to have been caused by Grandma Fa. I leap off of Khan as Mulan is being scolded by her mother. Inside the building where we are prepped to meet the Matchmaker, I slip out of my cloak and into the freezing bath water while Mulan is stripped and tossed into her own tub of freezing water. After a harsh scrubbing to get the hay and dust off of us, Mulan is dressed in a corset and fancy robes with layers of make-up to make her match the Chinese ideal of what a woman is supposed to look like while the attendants add a belt to my cloak to keep it closed and add a few layers of make-up to my face. Afterwards we march with several other young ladies to present ourselves before the Matchmaker's house.
"Fa, Mulan." The Matchmaker calls.
"Present!" Mulan says only for the Matchmaker to comment on a rules violation. Only a few minutes later, after sounds like a tornado are heard from the house, the Matchmaker emerges looking like a 500 pound demon with her rear on fire. "You may look like a bride, but you will never bring your family honor!" The Matchmaker says after Mulan uses the tea in a teapot to put out the fire. "Mon, Ellie." The Matchmaker calls after cleaning up her appearance. (As well as the inside of her house.... sort of.)
As I enter her house without speaking, I notice signs of the disaster that happened during Mulan's meeting. "Hmm...just like your adoptive sister. Too skinny, not good for bearing sons." The Matchmaker says after a moment. "You probably don't know the final admonition without cheating so pour the tea please." She adds before listing a few qualities the ideal wife should have. I quickly pour the tea without spilling a drop or saying a word despite noticing that the Matchmaker had missed some of the ink that had been on her face after the meeting with Mulan. "Hmm... You have the look of a bride, but like Mulan, you will never bring your family honor." The Matchmaker concludes.
"I'm not Chinese so I don't care about your concept of honor, but my other adoptive family would like to have a word with you." I reply before releasing Ellementiamon and 16 Starmon from the Xros Loader I had in my cloak pocket the entire time. As I exit the house, my Digital adoptive family trashes the interior to the point where the Matchmaker will need to move to a new house. "Let's go home Mulan. I'm sure Fa Zhou has a few words of wisdom for you to make you feel better about your meeting with that pitiful excuse for a woman. My mom and uncles will catch up later." I comment to my adoptive sister as I climb onto Khan.
